See below for how to get your CPA:

1. Apply to your state board: Each state has their own board of accountancy that sets the requireements for obtaining a license in that state. You can learn more about each state at nasba.org/stateboards. You'll need to provide your transcripts and an application fee of $50-$200 depending on the state.
2. Notice to Schedule (NTS): Once your application is approved by a board of accountancy, you will be issued a Notice to Schedule (NTS). Usually valid for 6 months, NTS is what allows you to register for exam sections at a testing location.
3. Schedule Exams: There are four sections to the CPA exam. Financial Accounting & Reporting (FAR), Auditing & Attestation (AUD), Regulation (REEG), and Business Environment & Concepts (BEC). Each exam has a fee of around $193 per section, as well as a registration fee per section ($250 if you register for all 4 sections at once). It's up to you which order you take each section.
4. Study: Depending on if you receive a full-time employment offer before graduation, many CPA firms will cover the cost of your prep courses, which can reach $1,000-$3,000. Each exam section requires 80-100 hours of studying, so don't take this step lightly!
5. Pass all four sections: The minimum passing score for each section is 75%. In order to apply for your license, you will need to pass all four sections within an. 18-month period. The clock starts once you pass your first section. If you do not pass all four sections in this timeframe, you will have to retake sections that you previously passed.
6. Apply for your licensure: Congratulations, the hardest part is over! You still need to work 2,000 hours (approximately 1 year) under the supervision of a currently licensed CPA and have completed 150-credit hours before applying for your license. Once you are licensed, you will need to complete Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours throughout your career to maintain your license.
