## Program Details

The Graduate Certificate in Church Leadership at the Busch School of Business is **a distinctive program designed to form leaders** who can effectively guide Catholic organizations with clarity, conviction, and a deep sense of mission. Rooted in the School’s commitment to be boldly Catholic, academically rigorous, and highly practical, the certificate equips seminarians, clergy, religious, and lay leaders with the virtues and competencies necessary to lead in service to the Church.

At its core, the program is boldly Catholic, emphasizing leadership as a vocation rather than simply a function. Students are formed in the virtues essential to authentic leadership — prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance — while grounding their decision-making in Catholic teaching and a commitment to the common good. This approach ensures that leadership is not reduced to technique, but is understood as a form of service ordered toward the flourishing of individuals, communities, and the Church as a whole.

At the same time, the program is **highly relevant to the realities faced by Church leaders today**. Whether preparing for parish leadership, diocesan roles, or service in Catholic schools and nonprofits, students gain practical tools that can be immediately applied in ministry. The curriculum integrates theological reflection with real-world application, ensuring that graduates are prepared to navigate complex organizational challenges while remaining faithful to the Church’s mission.

**Designed with flexibility in mind**, the certificate can be completed part-time and fully online, allowing students to balance their studies with ongoing formation or ministry responsibilities. The 12-credit structure provides a manageable yet meaningful course of study, and all credits may be applied toward the Master of Science in Ecclesial Administration and Management for those who wish to continue their education.

Ultimately, the Graduate Certificate in Church Leadership is for those who seek to lead not only effectively, but faithfully. By integrating virtue-based leadership with practical skills and a deep commitment to the Church’s mission, the program forms leaders who are capable of inspiring others, strengthening institutions, and contributing to the work of evangelization. In doing so, graduates are prepared to serve the Church with both excellence and purpose — helping to build communities that reflect truth, unity, and love.

I have been very blessed in my ministry by the things I learned in the MEAM program. It has made my transition to the role of pastor so much better, and has equipped me well.
