The Catholic University of America proudly announces that Dr. Dan Svogun has been honored with the prestigious Provost's Award for Young Faculty Scholars. This esteemed award recognizes the exceptional contributions and dedication of young faculty members in academia. Dr. Svogun's remarkable achievements in teaching, research, and service make him a well-deserved recipient of this honor.

"I am very honored to be chosen as the recipient of the 2024 Provost Award for Young Faculty Scholar,
and thank Associate Dean of Faculty Dr. Tony Cannizzarro for nominating me for this award. I want to say 
a special thanks also to Dean Abela for supporting my research, Dr. Irene Kim for her support as head of the finance area,  and all my colleagues at the Busch School for their encouragement and congratulations."

Before joining The Catholic University of America, Dr. Svogun earned his PhD in Economics from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. During his time at Fordham, he taught undergraduate Economics and Statistics for four years as a graduate student, laying the groundwork for his successful academic career.

Since joining The Busch School in Fall 2020, Dr. Svogun has taught courses such as Introduction to Finance, Corporate Finance, and Advanced Corporate Finance. His curriculum encompasses crucial topics like the time value of money, ratio analysis, valuing stocks and bonds, corporate tax policy, and the implications of tax on corporate structure. His commitment to teaching excellence and his ability to make complex subjects accessible to students have made him a standout educator.

Dr. Svogun's research interests include technical analysis, cryptocurrency, and life-cycle investing. His work has been published in renowned journals such as the International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, and Applied Economics. His recent studies have delved into the implementation of the most recently updated United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Socially Responsible Investing Guidelines in investment decisions.

In addition to his published works, Dr. Svogun has presented his research at many prestigious conferences, including the annual conferences of the Eastern Economic Association, Southern Economic Association, Southwestern Finance Association, and as an invited speaker at the International Conference on Computational and Financial Econometrics.

The Provost's Award for Young Faculty Scholars is a testament to Dr. Svogun's outstanding contributions in his field, and his commitment to advancing academic excellence.
