Dr. Anthony Cannizzaro is Associate Professor of Strategic Management & International Business at the Busch School of Business. As the Busch School's Vice Dean, he is responsible for faculty and academic affairs, and strategic initiatives. He is the academic director for both the School's International Business Program and the Ciocca Center for Principled Entreneurship's Family Business Consortium. He also represents Catholic University's professional school faculty on the University's Board of Trustees.

Dr. Cannizzaro's academic interests lay at the intersection of business, government, and civil society. His research is interdisciplinary, synthesizing theory from international strategy with complementary areas such as institutional economics, political economy, and economic sociology to better understand how multinational firms engage with diverse stakeholders.

Dr. Cannizzaro's work examining the implications of institutions, political relations, and state ownership on the transparency of foreign direct investment has been published in top outlets including the Journal of International Business StudiesAccounting, Organizations & Society, and the Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings. His research and teaching have been recognized in several ways, including a nomination for the Academy of International Business's AIB/Temple Best Paper Award; selection as a finalist for the Academy of Management's IM Division Willamette Best Paper in Social Responsibility Award; two-time recipient of the Chei-Min Paik Award for Excellence in Business Research from the George Washington University; and the Provost's Advancement of Teaching Award from the Catholic University of America.

Dr. Cannizzaro is a member of the Academy of International Business (AIB), the Academy of Management (AOM), and the Strategic Management Society (SMS). He has been recognized with multiple Best Reviewer Awards from the Academy of Management,  previously served on the editorial review board for the Journal of International Business Studies, and served as chair of the International Management Division's Doctoral Student Committee.

Prior to pursuing his Ph.D., Dr. Cannizzaro worked at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, a multinational investment banking firm specializing in the financial services industry. His primary role involved advising bank and thrift institutions on corporate valuation, mergers and acquisitions, and raising and managing capital. While at KBW, he executed over a billion dollars in M&A and capital-raising transactions and advised scores of clients in conjunction with the US government’s Troubled Assets Relief Program.

Dr. Cannizzaro holds a bachelor's degree in international business and finance from the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University, and a doctor of philosophy degree from the George Washington University School of Business.

He is a devoted husband and father to three boys, a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus, and was born and raised in the Great State of Ohio.
