Darrell Carroll, Catholic U'12, is the Head of North America Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries (MMBSI) FX Sales at J.P. Morgan. In undergrad, Darrell was an International Economics and Finance student. Below, he shares his experiences in the Busch School and Catholic University:

Why did you choose to attend the Busch School at The Catholic University of America?

"The close-knit campus community, the ability to challenge myself academically, and the alumni network within the financial industry."

How did the Busch School help you find your career path?

"My CUA on Wall Street trip, which included a stop at J.P. Morgan – where I ultimately interned and accepted a full-time position – was unquestionably the most pivotal moment of my time as a student. Being a student-athlete, particularly as a transfer student, which gave me a unique perspective and appreciation for Catholic University and all that it has to offer. Learning from, and developing relationships with the faculty and staff as they guided me through everything from changes in major to career advice."

What have you enjoyed most about working as a Managing Director at JP Morgan?

"Put simply, my role has always been about two things: the people I have the pleasure to work with and the intellectual stimulation of a career in Markets. I am thankful to have the opportunity to work with so many talented, dedicated, and thoughtful people. To establish a career in a dynamic field where I am in a continuous state of learning and development has truly been a humbling experience."

What advice do you have for prospective students?

"Network. Push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Invest your time to find what you would and wouldn’t want out of a career, and once you think you have found something you are passionate about, dedicate time to pursuing that field of interest. On the other side of discomfort is growth, and there is no better time to start than now."
