2021 also marks the 40th anniversary of two of Pope St. John Paul II’s most influential encyclicals on work and the family: Laborem exercens (Sept. 1981) & Familiaris consortio (Nov. 1981).
The Family Business initiative is our response to St. John Paul II’s call in Laborem exercens to continually study “new meanings of human work" and to his challenge in Familiaris consortio to remember that the “future of humanity passes by way of the family.”

The Family Business Consortium is an initiative of the Ciocca Center for Principled Entrepreneurship. The Ciocca Center brings together practitioners, academics and students to address current issues and develop projects to help lift communities and allow human persons to flourish.
Are you a student interested in one day running the family business? Students taking our Entrepreneurship co-specialization can take coursework in family business, applying lessons learned to their own unique businesses. Our goal is to educate the next generation of family business leaders to be a force for good in the world.
