CUA's New Sales Minor Degree Provides a Boon for Companies Looking to Hire Employees Who Can Make Immediate Impact
The Institute for Excellence in Sales (IES) announced that it has expanded its relationship with the Catholic University of America (CUA) in light of the university's announcement of its new Sales Minor Degree. This minor is now recognized as an official minor in the CUA's Busch School of Business and Economics.
Former technology sales leader Mark Weber developed the CUA program over the past three years. More than 40 companies have hired students from the program for sales jobs in technology and other industries over the past three years with median salaries at $70K. Many of these students have taken sales jobs in the federal market.
CUA students have also been hired at companies such as immixGroup/Arrow, DLT, Carahsoft, Splunk, NetApp, Qlik, Adobe, VMWare, Nutanix and more.
"Mark connected us with four very bright and hardworking business students who were industrious, creative and inquisitive. I could immediately see that his program was going to help shape these students and prepare them for the workplace," said Fred Diamond, president and co-founder, The Institute for Excellence in Sales. "There is a lot of potential upside in a sales career. However, habits need to be developed early on that will help put you in position for success. The program CUA has developed prepares the students for success. I think this is proven by the large number of high-profile companies that have already started hiring the graduates."
Current CUA students will be invited to participate in IES sales excellence programs, including the Women in Sales and Millennials in Sales Programs. Alumni will also be invited to participate with their new companies.
"The IES is the only entity of its kind that helps sales leaders hire, retain, motivate and elevate top tier sales talent," said Mark Weber, assistant professor, Catholic University Busch School of Business. "My students have received great value attending the Institute's learning programs while meeting other great sales professionals."
The IES originally connected with CUA in 2016 when it hired four students in Weber's new program as interns. For more information on CUA's announcement, please read the press release "Teaching the Value of Trust: The New Sales Minor (https://business.catholic.edu/
