Mollie Murray '27 is an Accounting student from Long Island, NY. She shares why she chose to attend Catholic University and the Busch School, and what advice she has for prospective students.
Why did you choose to attend Catholic University and the Busch School?
"Catholic University offers a well rounded college experience integrating faith, academics and relationships to students. When looking at colleges, this was critical for me and I was able to resonate strongly with the university's mission as well as the Busch School of Business. The Busch School of Business encourages and empowers students to accomplish greatness, with the continuous support of fellow students and faculty.
When I visited Catholic University, I met with Professor Njai and she shared with me all of the classes I would need to take as an accounting major in order to graduate with 150 credits to sit for the CPA exam. I am currently taking Professor Njai's Financial Accounting class and on track to graduate with 150 credits thanks to her dedication and compassion."
Why do you want to be in the business world?
"My passion for working with others, analyzing information and communicating that information with others is what inspired me to pursue a career in business. A career in accounting allows me to combine these passions in a way that will contribute to the greater good of society."
What's been your favorite part of being a student at Catholic University?
"My favorite part of being a student at Catholic University is all the opportunities I have been presented. In only my first semester of freshman year, I started an accounting internship at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, served as Treasury Board Secretary, joined multiple clubs such as the Network of Enlightened Women, Accounting Society and Business Women's Council. I have been able to make many new friends who share similar interest to me and are always down to talk for hours on end!"
What advice would you give to prospective students?
"I would encourage prospective students to take advantage of all the opportunities that Catholic University has to offer. At Catholic University, you can find your place and who you want to be. I would recommend reaching out to current students, orientation advisors and faculty to learn about their stories and how you can craft your own story at the Catholic University of America!"
