Blog post by student Beth Solangaarachchi '26:
Spring has finally arrived, bringing the perfect opportunity to refresh your wardrobe while giving back! As you declutter your closet and swap out your winter layers for lighter spring styles, consider donating your gently used clothing to Cardinal Closet. This organization is dedicated to providing students with affordable, stylish, and professional attire.
We are calling on faculty and staff to participate in our spring drive and help make a difference! Your donations will help students build confidence, access professional outfits for interviews, and express themselves through fashion while helping the planet.
What to Donate:
We are looking for gently worn, clean, and stylish clothing items that students can use for various occasions, from job interviews to everyday campus life. Examples of donation items include:
● Professional & Business Casual Wear – Blazers, dress shirts, slacks, skirts, and dresses
Your donations can go a long way in helping students feel confident and prepared, whether they’re heading to a networking event, an internship, or just trying to find their personal style!
How Your Donation Makes an Impact:
Empower Students
Many students struggle to afford professional attire for job interviews, internships, and networking events. Your donation helps them make a great first impression and step into opportunities with confidence.
Promote Sustainability
Fashion waste is a growing issue. By donating, you’re reducing landfill waste, extending clothing lifecycles, and being a good steward of God’s creation.
Live Out Our Faith
Spring is about renewal. It reminds us of Christ’s love and sacrifice, calling us to reflect that love in our actions. You are putting faith into practice by giving and embracing Catholic Social Teachings.
Reduces Fast Fashion Demand
Extending clothing life reduces demand for fast fashion and conserves natural resources.
Set an Example
Faculty participation encourages students and staff to do the same, fostering a culture of giving on campus.
Declutter Your Closet with Purpose
Spring cleaning isn’t just about tidying up. It’s about repurposing what you no longer need so that someone else can benefit.
