Alyssa Sweda is an Accounting student from Hazle Township, PA. Alyssa shares why she chose to attend Catholic University and the Busch School, and what advice she has for prospective students.
Why did you choose to attend Catholic University and the Busch School?
"Aside from the amazing location in our nation’s capital, I chose to attend Catholic University and the Busch School because of the opportunity for growth and development. I created strong relationships with teachers at my small, college-prep high school, and I wanted the same feeling of connectedness in college. The small class sizes and individualized attention from professors foster communication, teamwork, and connection. Feeling valued as a student is something that sets Catholic University apart.
At the Busch School, I have made many personal bonds with professors, faculty, and staff, who all offer unique guidance and perspective as I grow. Their valuable advice goes far beyond the classroom."
What's been your favorite part of being a student at Catholic University?
"My favorite part(s) of being a student at Catholic University are the connections I have made and the networking opportunities available for students. Students are valued as young professionals, and the Busch School curriculum prepares us for the 'real world' through career preparation and development. Of course, I also enjoy being in our nation’s capital and exploring all that the city has to offer!"
What advice would you give to prospective students?
"The most significant piece of advice to give to prospective students is to listen to your intuition and trust that everything happens for a reason. Choosing a college is a major life decision, and although it is incredibly important to discuss this choice with your family, it is crucial to listen to yourself. You’ll know where you want to call home, and we hope it’s here at Catholic University!"
