Sophia Koutsouli, Catholic U'26, is an Accounting student from Kensington, MD. She accepted a job as an Assurance Associate at RSM US LLP.

Briefly describe your new job opportunity.

"I will support audit engagements for middle-market clients by performing substantive testing, evaluating internal controls, assisting with financial statement preparation, and helping identify and address audit risks. I will work closely with engagement teams and clients to understand their operations, apply RSM’s audit methodology, and contribute to delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality assurance services."

How did your Busch School and Catholic University education help you find this career path?

"My accounting professors continuously encouraged me to apply to any positions that interested me. The RSM campus visit in the fall of 2024 was what truly made me apply for a summer 2025 internship with them, which led to me receiving the full-time offer."

What activities were you involved in during undergrad?

"Residence life (RA)"

What were some highlights of your time at Catholic University?

"Being an RA was definitely the highlight of my time at Catholic University. Since I spent my first two years as a commuter, finally living on campus allowed me to connect so much more with the community and my classmates. I built strong friendships with my co-RAs, got involved in campus life in a meaningful way, and felt like I was truly part of the CUA experience for the first time."

What advice do you have for students during their job search?

"Don’t be afraid to reach out to people working in positions you’re interested in, especially CUA alumni. They are almost always willing to connect and share insights about their roles. Also, remember to be yourself during the interview process! For first-year and entry-level positions, interviews are usually behavioral, so authenticity and confidence in your experiences go a long way. Also, remember that your professors are willing to help you in your job search and can connect you with professionals."
