Brooke Simonson, MSB '23, was an undergraduate Politics major. Brooke used the program as a stepping stone and a bolstering opportunity for her career path. She'll be working as a Special Agent for the Department of Defense.
Briefly describe your new job opportunity.
"I will be a Special Agent for the Department of Defense. I will work to protect our nation from foreign adversarial threats. CI officers detect, identify, assess, exploit, counter and neutralize damaging efforts by foreign entities."
How did the MSB Program help you find and choose this career path?
"The MSB program was a stepping stone and a bolstering opportunity to my career path. I obtained my internship that led to my career before the MSB program, but I was able to leverage the skills and knowledge from the MSB program to bolster my internship experience. It allowed me to take on opportunities that I would not have had if it weren't for the program, which eventually helped me become a more attractive future agent to my agency."
Why did you choose to attend the Master of Science in Business degree?
"I wanted to diversify my experiences and learn about business, so that I could amplify my knowledge of political science further. I knew that I wanted to work in the government, but at the end of the day, the government is a business and operates as such, so the knowledge of business further amplifies my opportunity to contribute to national security. I also hope to work in the private sector or open my own business in the future, so I know that the hard skills I learned in the MSB will benefit me in the future. I also had the opportunity to play another year on Catholic U's tennis team, which made the decision to attend MSB even easier."
What were some highlights of your time with the program?
"Some of my favorite MSB moments include: orientation team bonding activities, company week client visits, capstone data and research, and Thirsty Thursday speakers."
