Dr. Michael New, Visiting Asisstant Professor of Political Science and Social Research, in his latest article in the National Review addresses the results of a new poll released on Hill.TV which asks questions about the specific circumstances where abortion should be legal.
It found that over a majority of registered voters – 55 percent – think abortion should be either illegal or only legal in the cases of rape, incest, and life of the mother. Furthermore, these results were fairly consistent among a very diverse range of demographic groups. Even 44 percent of Democrats thought abortion should be illegal or legal in only limited circumstances.
The results clearly show that most Americans favor some protections for the unborn and the pro-life policies poll well across a very diverse range of demographic groups.
