Julia Englert is an International Business and Sales student from Shawnee, KS. She shares why she chose to attend Catholic University and the Busch School, and what advice she has for prospective students.
Why did you choose to attend Catholic University and the Busch School?
"I like to say there are three main reason why I chose to attend Catholic University and the Busch School: faith, opportunity, and community. My faith is something that I value greatly, and I knew I wanted to be in a place where I didn't have to feel like I had to completely separate that part of my life from my education and future career. I love how Catholic and the Busch School allow me to integrate my faith into my business education, teaching me how to be a force for good for others.
I also chose Catholic because of the opportunities I knew I would get being in Washington DC. Whether it's been something fun like going to the monuments or something to grow professionally like internship experiences, there is always an opportunity out there for me.
Finally, I chose Catholic because of it's community. I knew it would be hard moving so far away from home, but I also knew I was always going to have support here. Every person at this university is simply incredible."
Why do you want to be in the business world?
"I want to be in the business world because I love how much potential for growth there is in the profession. Business surrounds us and there are so many different paths you can take in the business sphere. I am also drawn to how business provides the opportunity to constantly challenge oneself."
What's been your favorite part of being a student at Catholic University?
"My favorite part of being a student at Catholic University goes back to one of my reasons for why I came here: the community. As cliché as it sounds, Catholic has become my home because of its people. I came here knowing no one and have since met some of the most incredible people. Everyone, regardless of whether they are faculty or students, wants to help you become the best person that you can be. I know there is always someone I can go to when I need support, and I am so grateful for the connections I have made in my time here."
What advice would you give to prospective students?
"Everything will work out in the way it's supposed to. Take a deep breath, ask for help when you need it, and don't waste your time stressing over the little things."
