Dr. Anthony Cannizzarro in collaboration with Tracy Phillips and Dr. Maximilian Torres presented their project, "Societal Impact Through Catholic Social Thought" at Catholic University’s Research Day. This initiative explores how Catholic social teaching can be used to measure and conceptualize the societal impact of business education. The project is grounded in the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church (CSDC), which provides a comprehensive framework for Catholic social teaching.
The project examines key principles such as the dignity of the human person and the common good, applying them to various aspects of social life like family, human work, and economic life. By mapping virtues from the Compendium to key employee qualities and measures in positive psychology, the project aims to help Catholic business schools align their curricula with their missions and promote a flourishing society.
"According to the dictates of prudence, the virtue that makes it possible to discern the true good in every circumstance and to choose the right means for achieving it," emphasizes the commitment of the project to societal impact and highlights the project's focus on providing a systematic approach to finding solutions and promoting solidarity and hope.
Overall, these professor’s work aims to contribute to impactful research, teaching, and dialogue among leaders from various sectors, inspired by Catholic teaching and the CSDC. By integrating these principles, the project seeks to enhance the societal impact of business education and cultivate a flourishing society.
