Briefly describe your business.
"The Qta Mamá Wellness Center is a membership-based wellness center that offers a unique combination of exercise, holistic healing, as well as healthy dining options in a historic home for young creative individuals to connect and foster innovation. We are currently in phase two of the project: the PADÉL phase, which caters to a clientele focused on friends and family. We currently offer two paddle courts, with the potential for future expansion to four. We have Padel classes/clinics with professional coaches and division tournaments with our D1 staff. Revenues are reinvested in the location to generate organic growth during this stage of the center."
What inspired you to start your own business?
"An idea of a hospitality business that didn't quite take off. The huge necessity for Padel courts in Venezuela. and The Soho House community."
Are there any resources or tools that you found particularly helpful in your entrepreneurial journey?
"The internet—nowadays you can find information about anything there. People— surrounding yourself with creative and supportive individuals is invaluable when brainstorming ideas and executing your vision. Initially, I had my own vision of what this opportunity could become. However, as I introduced other members to the team, I continually solicited their ideas and critiques, which led to significant improvements. Sharing your vision with a team that shares similar goals is essential—constantly supporting yourself with professionals with experience in the area."
What advice would you give to students who are considering starting their own businesses?
"My favorite triple-word phrase: "WHY NOT YOU," self-confidence in yourself and your ideas. You must genuinely and deeply believe that what you are doing holds value; if you believe it, others will too. Do your market research, take the time to do and understand the legal work needed, and love the process as much as the destination. One step at a time"
