Career fairs can be stressful, but making a lasting first impression doesn’t have to be!

Are you ready to plunge into the professional world and make your mark? As an undergraduate student the professional world can be intimidating and confusing. Most of the time we come into college with a vague idea of what we want to do, and as we meet new people and take cool courses we develop a clear picture of our future. While classes are awesome ways to learn about different career paths, nothing beats actually hearing from employers themselves. Going to school in the nation’s capital gives us access to some of the country’s top companies and I’m excited to provide some career networking opportunities in the city.

  1. 2024 D.C. Journalism Job Fair: Engage in discussions with industry professionals from over 24 leading journalism organizations including CNN, NBC, and CBS.
  2. Washington DC Job Fair: Connect with employers from all over the country in a variety of sectors including accounting, technology, and fashion. Learn more about the unique opportunities for undergraduates students interested in all types of fields.
  3. Arts and Sciences Networking: Rub elbows with experts in the arts and sciences industry including but not limited to politics, psychology, and biology. Tap into the different post-grad opportunities you have in the arts or sciences.
  4. Spring 2024 Career Night: Network with business professionals from top companies in the nation and learn about career opportunities in the world of business.

So, you’ve signed up for the event, what next? Well you have to create a strong resume that will impress recruiters, you have to do research on the companies attending, and you have to determine what exactly you want to get out of these events. These tasks can be overwhelming, and walking into recruiting events can feel like a daunting endeavor. It’s intimidating to see recruiters of the most influential companies at tables, sitting and waiting for you to introduce yourself. In all this commotion it’s easy to forget about your appearance, but your clothing is a sort of unspoken hello, an unspoken introduction to who you are and what you think of yourself. According to the Entrepreneur, “The clothes you choose for an interview can speak volumes about your professionalism, attention to detail and understanding of the company culture.”

That’s why I am excited to announce a new opportunity to expand your professional wardrobe and your opportunity for success, Catholic University’s Cardinal Closet. Fashion isn’t just about looks, and business professional attire is more than just about clothes; it’s about presenting who you are as an individual and professional. This clothing drive will provide all students, regardless of financial status, the confidence to explore their future. You’re more than what’s on your resume, you are a person with a unique perspective that should be reflected in your wardrobe.

We will be hosting a Cardinal Closet business clothing Pop-Up in the lobby of Maloney Hall on April 19th from 11-4 pm. This pop-up will include carefully selected professional business attire that is taste and size-inclusive. From suits to blouses to dresses, we have got you covered. Take this clothing drive as a way not only to up your style but as a step forward in your professional future!
