Dr. Catherine Ruth Pakaluk, professor of Political Economy, was featured on the Wall Street Journal for her latest book release, Hannah's Children.
"As an economist, [Dr.] Pakaluk ultimately has her eye on policy. She rejects pronatalist policies that assume governments can motivate young women to make the sacrifices necessary for motherhood. Only “reasons of the heart” can move a woman to do this, and she argues that the best chance we have of promoting these reasons is within religious communities. She believes that religious schools are the best way to promote natality, and that governments should increase access to them."
