Sales Competition Team with Best Finish in School History

Four Sales Program students - Justin McCarthy, Madeline Kelly, Victor Rosado, and Brigid Murray - represented Catholic University in the International Collegiate Sales Competition in Orlando, Florida. This year’s team scored the highest of any Sales Competition Team in Busch School history, moving up one spot from last year to 28th overall in the International Competition.

The International Collegiate Sales Competition is a competition hosted by Florida State University that tests the top sales students from universities worldwide. The competition consists of multiple events, including a role-play competition, speed selling event, and sales management simulation event. Based on their performances, competitors are assessed by corporate sponsors and sales faculty.

The team’s success was highlighted by the solution presented by Victor Rosado and Brigid Murray in the Sales Management Case event, which earned Catholic University the #1 overall spot in their assigned competition room.

See below for a brief description of each event and remarks from two of the Sales Program students who competed in them:

Sales Management Case Competition

Brigid Murray and Victor Rosado participated in the Sales Management Case Competition. The case competition is the only one of its kind, focusing specifically on issues related to managing a professional salesforce.

When asked about his participation in the Case Competition, Victor Rosado had the following to say: “Working the Sales Management Case allowed me to sharpen my problem-solving, critical thinking, and presentation skills by proposing a solution to a real-world challenge posed by the event's company sponsor. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to participate!”

Role Play Competition

Justin McCarthy and Madeline Kelly participated in the Role Play Competition. The role-play product for ICSC 2024 was DLL Clean Technology Financing. This year, the entire role-play competition was based upon a potential sale to Tom James Company.

Madeline Kelly shared the following when asked about her experience competing in the Role Play Competition: "Competing in the ICSC Role Play was an amazing experience. During both Round 1 and Wild Card Round, I really had to think on my feet. It felt incredibly realistic, especially when interacting with professionals from the actual company involved in the scenario. The event pushed me to adapt quickly and navigate unpredictable situations, which was challenging, yet rewarding. I truly couldn’t have made it this far without the support and preparation from the Sales program at Catholic - their training played such a crucial role in my success!”

Speed Selling Competition

Madeline Kelly and Brigid Murray competed in the Speed Selling Competition. The purpose of the Speed Selling competition is to demonstrate professional speaking and presentation skills in front of potential employers with the objective of shining in a high-pressure situation.
