Justin McCarthy is a Senior Sales and Sports Management student from North Kingstown, Rhode Island. He shares why he chose Catholic University and the Busch School and the advice he has for prospective students.
Why did you choose to attend Catholic University and the Busch School?
"I chose Catholic University for its strong academic reputation, especially in the Busch School, where I knew I could receive a great education. I was looking for a unique environment that would help me grow academically and develop skills for my future career. Catholic University offered me the chance to continue my athletics while pursuing my studies, which was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. The combination of support for student-athletes and a focus on personal development made it the right fit for me."
Why do you want to be part of the business world?
"I grew up in a family immersed in the business world, which gave me early exposure to its dynamics and opportunities. For me, a career in business has always felt like the natural path; I just needed to focus on developing the right skills and gaining the necessary knowledge to succeed. This background has shaped my ambitions and motivated me to pursue a degree that will prepare me for a successful future in the industry."
What's been your favorite part of being a student at Catholic University?
"My favorite part of being a student at Catholic University is the close-knit community. Attending a smaller school allows me to take classes alongside my friends and receive personalized support from professors and staff members. I feel fortunate to be part of such a welcoming and supportive environment. It really enhances my overall experience and makes my academic journey even more enjoyable."
What advice would you give to prospective students?
"I would recommend exploring your interests deeply and not being afraid to ask questions. Take advantage of campus resources and find your passion. Built connections with profess and peers, these relationships can be life-changing. Lastly, I recommend stepping out of your comfort zone, whether through clubs, sports, or volunteering."
