Jacob Lynes is a Senior Accounting student at the Busch School of Business. He started RECUA, the Busch School's Real Estate Club.

What interested you in starting a Real Estate club at the Busch School?

"I wanted to provide an interactive and educational experience for students interested in the real estate industry. I believe it is essential to have at least some background in real estate, especially as many students will eventually be homeowners one day."

How did you become interested in real estate?

"I became interested in real estate at a young age through my parents being real estate investors and learning from them and their experiences. I was able to sit in on meetings with HOA's, property managers, bankers, and even property accountants. I proactively got involved by obtaining my real estate license and investing in my first rental property at 19 years old."

What is your vision for the club (i.e. speakers, events, etc.)?

"I am looking to bring in real estate professionals to speak to the club as well as hosting informational sessions to assist with the educational experience for club members. Ultimately, I would love to see a real estate major implemented at the Busch School."

How will RECUA add value to the Busch School's many extracurricular offerings?

"RECUA aims to collaborate with the other business clubs to attend to the multitude of channels within the industry such as real estate sales, real estate finance, and even property management."

Who have been some of your Busch School mentors during the launch of this club?

"Professor Gregory Monahan has been fantastic in launching this club, as well as making sure everything has gone smoothly. I am very thankful for his assistance in this process."
