Founder and Principal, Machado and Company
Carolyn Machado is the principal of Machado & Company, which specializes in political fundraising and Washington representation. Founded in 1994, her firm’s clients include top-targeted political campaigns, trade associations, non-profit organizations, and corporations. She has over thirty years of experience as a fundraiser and political professional. Prior to starting her own company, Carolyn served as a finance director for Congressional and Senate races, as well as the PAC and Grassroots Director for the American Consulting Engineers Council.
As part of her firm, Carolyn serves as the Executive Director for the Guardian Fund, a multi-candidate PAC which raises approximately a million dollars annually and has helped elect over 100 conservative veterans and minorities to Congress over the past ten years. She also works as PAC Manager and Finance Director for the Healthcare Freedom Fund, which helps elect conservative medical professionals to Congress. As part of her duties, she organizes the quarterly Breakfast Club, introducing keynote speakers to address recent issues as they pertain to the medical field and coordinates an annual Nashville donor retreat for supporters.
Carolyn has worked with a number of corporate, non-profit, and trade associations to restructure their fundraising and PAC programs. As an innovative fundraiser, Carolyn has also organized events at NASCAR races, the U.S. Open, Final Four, Jazz Fest, and on Broadway.
A native of Rhode Island, Carolyn received her Bachelor of Arts and Humanities in Political Science from Boston University in 1990. She lives in Fairfax, Virginia and Narragansett, Rhode Island with her husband Gene Ulm, daughter Adelaide, and miniature schnauzer Chelsea.
