Carlyle Abate, MSB '19, has accepted a position as a Budget Assistant with The National Institute of Mental Health. Below, Carlyle shares his experiences in the program, and how it helped him to find his future:

Why I Joined the Program

"When I was in my final semester of my undergraduate studies, I knew that I wanted to go to graduate school. I applied to a few law schools and the MSB Program. I ultimate chose the MSB Program because it provided me with a clear path to much stronger career prospects. The skills that the program taught were also things that sounded really interesting to me."

How the Program Helped Me Find My Career Path

"Without a doubt, the MSB Program was necessary for me to secure the job I have now and be successful in it. The financial and technical skills that the program taught are now part of my everyday work life. It was also the program who put me in touch with someone at the NIMH so that I could interview for the position. After completing the program, I have the confidence to approach business problems and overcome them using everything that I learned."

My Highlights of the Program

"The highlight of the program for me was the Field Team Study Capstone Project. We spent the entire spring semester working in groups of five to analyze a problem that a real business was facing. At times it was difficult to balance the demands of our client with the different personalities on the team and our other classes. Ultimately, we were able to deliver high quality recommendations to our client, some of which they have already implemented! Putting so much time and effort into a project and seeing it through to completion was a very satisfying process."
