An entrepreneur at heart, John has devoted his professional life to starting and growing technology companies as a bi-coastal institutional venture capitalist. He is the founder of 3 venture funds – the first two in Northern CA where he is from, and the third is in Virginia. Having funded more than 125 companies and seen more than 25 times that in business plans, he still gets excited to help young founders fulfill their passion and grow their business. Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, John founded and ran a software company based in Pennsylvania. When John is not meeting with founders, working on private company boards, or raising money for his funds – John is a dedicated husband of 30 years and father to 3 children. His personal interests include flying, hunting and generally being outdoors. John has degrees from UC Santa Cruz (Economics), UC Berkeley (Mechanical Engineering) and Harvard Business School (MBA).
