Briefly describe your new job opportunity.

"After beginning as a summer intern and spending the past year as a Junior Associate, I am excited to be joining Miller Strategies, LLC full-time as a Client Relations and Operations associate. In this role, I’ll be supporting firm principals in policy development, client engagement, and event coordination."

How did your Busch School and Catholic University education help you find this career path?

"Lobbying is a niche segment of the corporate world, with its democratic and economic necessity often overshadowed by the drama of politics. I chose the Busch School because I wanted to learn the inner workings of business and economics for a better understanding of their role in the context of government advocacy. In my studies, I've gained learned not only how businesses work, but also how they contribute to the common good and purposes greater than just profit. I am confident that the education I’ve received from the Busch School has laid a strong foundation for a career dedicated to bridging the gap between policy-making and the private sector - not merely in pursuit of profit, but for the nation’s greater good."

What activities were you involved in during undergrad?

"On campus, I have been a part of the Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC), Student Advancement Leadership Team (SALT), and a Busch Ambassador. Off campus, I have interned in the United States Senate for Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), as well as lobbying firms Farragut Partners and Miller Strategies. All of these experiences shaped me not just as a student, but as a leader in my community."

What were some highlights of your time at Catholic University?

"Without a doubt, the biggest highlight of my time at Catholic University was the semester I spent living in Rome, Italy. Although studying abroad is a common offering among most schools, having a satellite campus is not. The Rome Campus is not only located in a great part of the city, but it provides a real community and sense of stability that would have otherwise been missed. Living in one of the world’s greatest cities with all of Europe at your fingertips is a once-in-a-lifetime experience I’d recommend to every student at CUA."

What advice do you have for students during their job search?

"During my first summer of internships, I received two invaluable pieces of advice that have stayed with me ever since. First: say yes to everything until you need to say no. College internships offer a unique opportunity to learn and grow before entering the professional world. Because of that, you should take full advantage of their flexibility and embrace every chance to gain experience. Being eager and available to learn is a quality every employer values. Second: look at every interview as an opportunity that leads to another interview. Catholic University does a great job of emphasizing the importance of networking and providing chances to do it, but interviews are also a time to grow your network. Approaching each one as a way to pitch yourself and build connections in your industry makes every interaction a success."
