Nicolas Prodoehl, CatholicU '25, is an Accounting student with an Entrepreneurship minor from Houston, Texas. He is heading to graduate school at Texas A&M University for his Masters in Accounting.

Briefly describe your new job opportunity.

"I have been accepted into the Master of Science in Accounting Program at Texas A&M University!"

How did your Busch School and Catholic University education help you find this career path?

"Thanks to the fantastic foundation that was set by Professor Kirst and the great faculty he hired and led in the Accounting Program for 10+ years, I was taught by great professors and practitioners at the Busch School. This helped me have an advantage and I was selected by the Admissions Committee of Mays Business School at Texas A&M University as one of their external candidates admitted to their top ranked MS in Accounting Program."

What activities were you involved in during undergrad?

"I was involved in various activities both at the Busch School and at the University level. I was an active member of the Accounting Society all four years (Freshman Chair and Sophomore Co-Chair my first two years), was part of CUA intramural sports teams (basketball, flag football, and kickball), part of the inaugural season of the Ping Pong Club, and the last two years have served as a Busch School Ambassador."

What were some highlights of your time at Catholic University?

"Some of the highlights of my time at Catholic University have been: studying abroad in Rome (and my family visiting me during Spring Break); being a loud and proud fan at CUA athletic games (especially Men’s Basketball at the Duf); participating in many Program Board events (Mistletoe Ball, Founder’s Day Ball, and Lip Sync Battle); playing and coaching for teams to make the intramural championships; going on several Campus Ministry retreats; being taught, mentored by, and having great working relationships with excellent professors that are titans in their academic fields like Dean Abela, Professor Kirst, Professor Widmer, and Professor Weber; as well as, participating in their amazing networking events; being able to meet politicians at YAF events like my senator from Texas Ted Cruz, Dan Crenshaw, Mike Pence, and Kellyanne Conway; meeting sports figures at presentations given by Coach Ron Rivera, Benjamin Watson, and Enes Kanter Freedom; and joining many other Cardinals by going on the March For Life on the National Mall in January 2023 and 2025."

What advice do you have for students during their job search?

"Have a plan of where you want to be 3-5 years down the road, whether it is looking for a summer internship or in this case applying to business school to earn an advanced degree, being organized and disciplined is key. Be sure to identify formal and informal mentors along the way and be grateful and expressive for their helpful advice and guidance given. It is good to seek their wise counsel and keep them updated on your goals and progress. I was very fortunate to have many excellent professors at the Busch School (Widmer, Weber, Dean Abela, Kirst, Njai, Felix and several others) in addition to peer mentors like Jack Shields, Mike Phillips and Karla Martinez-Victoria who have great recent success stories that educate, drive and motivate you to strive to do your part of adding to the legacy of successful and proud Busch School alums!"
