

John Maynes, CatholicU '25, is an Accounting and Finance student from Haddonfield, NJ. After graduation, he will start the next part of his academic career in the Busch School's Master of Science in Business Program.
Briefly describe your new job opportunity.
"I recently was accepted to Catholic University's Master of Science in Business program. The program will allow me to further my skills and knowledge in various areas of business."
How did your Busch School and Catholic University education help you find this next step?
"My time at the Busch School and Catholic University gave me a strong foundation in ethical business practices and the importance of aligning my values with my career. I was also fortunate to have professors who genuinely cared about my growth and supported me in my studies."
What activities were you involved in during undergrad?
"During undergrad, I was a wide receiver on the football team, which taught me the value of discipline, teamwork, and time management. I also worked a part-time job through the university's work-study program in the financial aid office, where I developed organizational and customer service skills. Additionally, I interned with the audit department at Rubino and Company, gaining valuable hands-on experience in accounting and learning how to apply my classroom knowledge in a professional setting."
What were some highlights of your time at Catholic University?
"Some of the highlights of my time at Catholic University include playing football, which was an unforgettable experience and a big part of my college life. I also enjoyed participating in intramural basketball, which was a great way to have fun and stay active. Most importantly, I valued the relationships I formed with other students, which made my time at Catholic truly special."
What advice do you have for students during their job search?
"My advice is to take full advantage of all the resources Catholic University offers, including career counseling, alumni networking events, and internship opportunities. Don’t hesitate to reach out to professors—they’re a great source of guidance and support. Also, be open to exploring areas outside of your comfort zone; sometimes, that’s where you discover your true passions. Lastly, focus on building a strong foundation of skills and experiences during undergrad that can help you stand out in the application process for graduate programs or job opportunities."
